Our Vehicle Graphics, Wrapping and Signage Process

From Survey to Handover at our Hull Workshop, One Team Throughout

Every vehicle wrapping, van wrap, fleet livery and commercial signage project at MW Graphics in Hull runs through the same five stages: survey, design, production, installation and aftercare. As part of Martin Williams, we draw on 35 years of commercial vehicle expertise, our own in-house paint and engineering operation, and a 7-acre Burstwick facility that few independent sign companies can match.

Every stage is handled by the same team in one location, so nothing gets lost between subcontractors.

Survey and Consultation

Every project starts with a free survey, either at our Burstwick workshop just outside Hull or on your site anywhere across Hull, East Yorkshire or the wider UK. Surveys are about more than measuring up. They're where we identify everything that affects the final result.

Vehicle projects involve measuring each panel, photographing existing badges, vents, ladder racks and door handles, checking paint condition and asking how the vehicle gets used day to day. The way a refrigerated trailer gets washed isn't the same as a company car, and the design has to account for that.

Signage projects involve measuring the substrate, checking structural fixings, reviewing sight lines from the road, identifying whether advertisement consent is needed, and flagging anything that affects installation access. That includes high-rise buildings, listed properties, conservation areas and traffic management.

Once the survey is complete, we'll send you a written quote with timelines specific to your project.

Design and Proofing

Our in-house design team works to your existing brand guidelines or develops fresh artwork from scratch.

For vehicle projects, every design is presented as a vehicle-specific 3D mock-up so you can see exactly how the artwork sits on your real van, lorry or trailer before anything prints.

For signage projects, we produce visualisations against photographs of the actual building, including any built-up letters, illumination effects and fixing details that affect the final look.

Design timelines depend on the scope of the work and how many revisions are needed before sign-off. We'll give you a specific timeline at survey stage.

Production

Production happens entirely at our Burstwick facility. Print files are colour-managed against your brand palette, then printed on calibrated large-format printers using cast vinyls from 3M, Avery Dennison, Arlon or Oracal. The same materials used by main-dealer body shops.

Vehicle wraps are laminated with a clear overlaminate to protect against UV, road grit and jet-washes. Signage panels are fabricated alongside, including aluminium tray fascias, built-up letters and illuminated systems.

Every job is inspected before it leaves production.

Installation

ehicles come into our Burstwick workshop for fitting, or our team mobilises to your site for fleet rollouts and signage installs across the UK. IPAF and PASMA certifications mean we can install at height on HGVs, double-deckers, large trailers and tall building fascias safely and in line with site rules.

Installation timelines depend on the scope of the work, the number of vehicles or sites involved, and the level of coverage. Single-vehicle wraps are typically completed faster than fleet rollouts, and signage installs vary based on access and site requirements. We'll confirm specific timings at survey stage.

Every install is checked over once complete and given time to settle before sign-off.

Aftercare and Support

Every wrap or sign installation comes with care guidance covering washing, parking, cleaning products to use and what to avoid. Sensible care makes a real difference to how long a wrap lasts.

For fleet and multi-site clients, we keep production files on record so future updates, replacement panels and additional vehicles match the original installation. No more guessing colour codes years later.

If something goes wrong with one of our installs, we'll sort it.

Backed by 35 Years of Commercial Vehicle Expertise

MW Graphics is part of the Martin Williams, which has been engineering, repairing and painting commercial vehicles from its Burstwick site near Hull since 1990. Our wrapping and signage operation runs on the same site, with the same standards and the same in-house disciplines as the wider group's work for the UK MOD, GeoAmey prisoner escort fleet conversions, and major commercial fleet operators.

Commissioning a fleet wrap or multi-site signage project from MW Graphics means working with a company whose parent has built specialist vehicles for government, defence and industry for over three decades.

Process FAQs

  • It depends entirely on the scope of the project. Single-vehicle wraps are quicker than fleet rebrands, and signage projects vary based on whether advertisement consent is needed. We'll give you a specific timeline at survey stage so you know exactly what to expect.

  • Either works. Most single vehicles come to our Burstwick workshop where conditions are controlled. Larger fleets and HGVs are often easier to wrap on your site, which we do across the UK.

  • Always. You sign off on a vehicle-specific or building-specific mock-up before production starts. Nothing gets printed without written approval.

  • Design revisions are part of the process. We don't move into print until you're happy with how it looks.

  • We hold your production files on record. A replacement panel can be reprinted and fitted to match the original installation. For fleet operators we can also keep parts on quick-reorder for accident damage and refresh cycles.
